In these blog posts, I usually talk about various aspects of my work as a couples and individual therapist. This one is a bit different, and a little more personal.  However it’s still relevant I think, if you are considering coming for therapy.

Until recently, I have been working at different consulting rooms in the area including at The Practice East Molesey and Health Village Esher. I’ve now decided to set up independently.

I maybe biased of course, but I think it’s the best therapy space in the area, and is designed especially (though not exclusively) for couples therapy.  It’s also a perfect space for individual therapy.

Having my own space means I can be flexible in the session times I can offer.  I now have vacancies on Monday afternoons, Tuesdays and Thursdays morning through evening, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  Having said this, I strictly limit the number of clients I work with at any one time, so I have the mind space to keep you in mind all week, not just in sessions.

My consulting room is in Grapes House, on Esher High street.  This is a beautiful, characterful and rather quirky Grade II listed building on what was of course the main coaching route to Portsmouth.  It is nearly 400 years old, and you can feel the history.  With a name like The Grapes, it’s not surprising to learn that it was formerly a public house, though not for many decades, and the change of use to a building that hosts a number of small businesses was many years ago.  I can’t find any photos of it online, though I may approach Esher History Society to see what they know.

Whatever the history, I was drawn to this space as somewhere calming, quiet, comfortable and discreet – ideal for therapy whether you are looking for individual counselling or couples therapy, and whether you live in Esher or the surrounding areas such as Ashtead, Byfleet, Claygate, Cobham, East Molesey, Epsom, Esher, Hampton, Kingston-upon-Thames, Leatherhead, Oxshott, Shepperton, Sunbury, Surbiton, Teddington, Thames Ditton, Walton-on-Thames, West Byfleet, West Molesey, Weybridge and Woking.

It’s a space where you can be away from the places where you experience whatever challenges you are facing in life, something of a haven or even a home-from-home.

If you are considering couples therapy, you might be experiencing arguments or insoluble disagreements, or more of a distancing between you.  You might be finding it hard to adjust to changes in family life, such as being new parents, or with children soon to leave home, or wondering what retirement will mean for you as a couple.  There may have been an affair, which you’d like to understand and to try to heal.  You might even be considering separation.

If you are coming as an individual, it could be about intimate relationships, or workplace or broader family relationships.  It could be about how you balance the different demands on you.  Perhaps you’re a woman who wants a man’s perspective, perhaps you’re a man who wants someone who ‘gets’ you and won’t judge.

If any of this resonates, or indeed it’s something else you’d like to be better in life, do get in touch for an in-person initial consultation in Esher or online if you prefer.
